EDDY THREE LEGGED STOOL

Only a short distance from Cornville, the majestic Kennebec river flows through the town of Skowhegan.  Known to the Abnaki as “Falls by the Pine Lands,” Skowhegan is a old mill town, one of many which you can find scattered around the state of Maine.  After the dam in the center of town , which was built on natural rocky falls, the river runs through a man-made straight away and rejoins the untouched Kennebec at “the Eddy” south of town.  Peter named this stool after that special place on the Kennebec where the river has been influenced by man but returns to its natural state.  While creating the Eddy stool, Peter starts with thick, rough planks of Black Cherry.  It is at this starting point that he feels the closest connection to the living tree that supplied him with the raw material to create his art.  Just like the Kennebec river the Eddy stool starts wild, is tamed for a short period before finding its freedom again.  Certain parts of this stool have a human look and function while other parts have been hand carved to flow together. This stool has lines that show it coming from and working back to its natural state.  Comfortable and definitely a conversational piece the Eddy stool will compliment any corner of the home.
