Named
after Peter’s son Anthony, the Antoine was inspired by a
single image of one of “American Master Chair
maker’ John Kevin Barth’s chairs.
Barth’s chair was the first attractive chair Peter had seen
where the legs widen towards the floor. The lines of this
chair are strong, clean and the legs widening to the feet is
subtle. Even though Peter thinks a chair that has legs that
narrow towards the floor is visually more appealing this image sparked
him to design a chair with a “ bell bottom”
look. After quite a few sketches in his shop he has come up
with the Antoine, a chair that has very earthy lines that are
exaggerated, making it a “fun” chair to
look at. Created from mostly 8/4 stock this chair will add
beauty and comfort in any room it is placed.
The Antoine chair comes in an armed and unarmed version. A
veteran when it comes to handling his three offspring as they have
progressed through their challenging teenage years Peter thought it
fitting to name this chair in this fashion.
